Highmere

Overview

Highmere is a walled town built on both banks of a river. North of the river lies Highmere proper: walled streets, a market square and civic plazas. South of it lies Highmere Docks, the town’s harbour. It is known for its specialist shops.

The town

• Walls and gates. A wall with towers encloses the town, entered by the North, East and West Gates. The river side is fortified by river towers and a parapet along the bank.
• Bridges. Highmere Bridge is the main crossing between the town and the docks; the smaller Eastwater Bridge crosses further east.
• Streets. Main roads, streets, lanes and alleys lead to a central market square and civic plazas.

Buildings

Highmere’s buildings include the town hall, a shrine, the guard house and jail, a general store, post office, apothecary, bank, the Highmere Tavern, a blacksmith, stables, a workshop, and town utilities: the waterworks, mana house and lightning station.
